System Manager
The System Manager module is required to operate any of the other modules in the Visual
Accounting line. The System Manager includes all required system libraries (DLLs), a
Report Writer, and an exclusive Vertical Market Toolkit that allows complete customization
of the user's working environment.
- The System Manager allows full implementation of the multi-tasking environment, with up
to 100 accounting sessions concurrently active on each workstation, depending on
workstation configuration.
- Virtually all screens, menus and fields in every module can be changed. User photo
identification can be stored with the user master file. Access to menus can be controlled
by the user and fields can be hidden or locked out. On-line, context-sensitive help can be
modified.
- System-wide file pre-imaging ensures that data is not affected in the event of a system
interruption. An option that allows users to save at exit also helps prevent errors.
- Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) allows import or export to other software packages.
- Expertise.LAN/Expertise.SQL offers multi-user security functions, and full multi-user
locking capabilities to the field access level. Data can be allocated to multiple paths
and/or servers per company and per module.
- The Report Writer is an extensive tool for designing customized reports. You'll have the
ability to generate important reports that help you maximize the efficiency of your
business practice. The Report Writer module gives you access to the data files in all
Expertise.LAN/Expertise.SQL modules, providing a complete solution for your business.
- The Report Writer includes more than 400 pre-defined reports. All reports can be
previewed on the screen, sent to disk, or printed. Reports can be linked for unattended
printing.
- Custom reports and forms are easily created using WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get)
design methods. Access to reports can be controlled by user, department, and company, with
optional password protection. Subtotaling, accumulation, and percent evaluation can be
controlled by the user and report calculations and variables are validated. Comparison or
combined company reporting is available.
- The Vertical Market Toolkit enables users to modify individual, workgroup, and
system-wide features. All elements of the user interface can be modified including desktop
elements, input field names, and screen locations.
- The Vertical Market Toolkit enables users to change or rename input windows based on
specific requirements, and to attach frequently accessed menu items to desktop buttons.
- Each user can have a unique menu, desktop screen design, and restricted security access
to any combination of functions, fields and/or files. Users can be restricted to specific
fields of a record, and be permitted to enter only a limited range of numeric data.
- An accountant's 10-key calculator with tape printout and dual memory function is
available from the menu as a desktop icon, and company logos can be placed on the desktop
for graphic enhancement.
- A System Activation module enables the product to be configured as a full live system or
a demonstration system (that cannot perform a year-end closing and has no print services).
